A 21-year old American student has won the final place on the Heads-Up Poker Championship this April.

Josh Lochner won the 64th and final place for the forthcoming Heads-Up Poker Championship, after beating more than 30,000 competitors.

Lochner, who first played online poker only a year ago, beat 30,000 contestants in a series of single elimination matches in the nbcheadsup.com online poker tournaments to win the last place on the coveted NBC's 2nd annual Heads-Up Poker Championship.

"I still can't believe I won. To have a chance to play against the very best is going to be amazing," Lochner was quoted by CardPlayer.com as saying.

He admitted to being slightly nervous of playing against some of the best players in the world, but he also appears to relish the opportunity of playing against some of online pokers most established stars.

Similarly to the nbcheadsup.com poker tournaments, the Heads-Up Poker Championship is played under a unique one-on-one single elimination format, with 64-competiters battling it out for the title of Heads-Up Poker Champion.

Defending champion, Phil Hellmuth, is expected to face stiff competition from 60 professional poker players, most notably leading rivals such as Phil Ivey and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

The competition will be televised on NBC live from Caesar's Palace from April 16th.
